Farina 60 Celebrations

2019 marks the 60th Anniversary of the production of our “Farina” designed cars.

The Club has always celebrated these “big birthday” events. Many of you will remember Farina 40, Farina 50 and the recent celebration of pre-Farinas at Longbridge.

We intend for Farina 60 to be a landmark event, run entirely for the Club, by the Club.

Two days of festivities centered around our members and cars; not shared with or distracted by other bigger events.

We’ve been searching for the ideal venue to meet our requirements -

Somewhere within comfortable travelling distance for the greatest number of members.

A place with on-site facilities and attractions to keep everyone entertained for the weekend.

It also had to have an association with our Great British transport heritage.

Finally, we needed easy access with camping and reasonably priced accommodation close by.

We believe that we’ve found the perfect venue  - Swanwick Junction Museum Complex, run by the Midland Railway near Ripley in Derbyshire.

The COOC has exclusive access to the complex over the weekend of July 20th & 21st, 2019

There’s a rally field with space for a marquee and hard-standing for cars alongside the railway museum buildings.

The site has a replica  Victorian railwayman’s church which we’ve booked to hold film shows and lectures.

Members can take nostalgic train journeys along the tracks to nearby Butterley Station and through the spectacular Derbyshire countryside.

The area is surrounded by a country park plus there many other attractions for the whole family.

The Golden Valley Light Railway  and Butterley Park Miniature Railway are based here too.

Swanwick Junction is on the branch line from nearby Butterley Station and you can learn more about the complex here - www.midlandrailway-butterley.co.uk

The Golden Valley Caravan & Camp site is only a mile down the lane. They’ve offered to keep all our members together in a designated “rally field” with recently refurbished shower blocks and facilities.

Prices are around £20 per tent for one car and two people, plus an optional £10 for electric.

The full schedule of events, attractions and registration for Farina 60 will be in the next Rosette Recorder.
In the meanwhile we suggest you book accommodation sooner rather than later if you intend to stay for the weekend.
